Fresh from its recent collaboration alongside Logiquest, Universal Works has returned with the latest collection from its “Hotel Deluxe” concept.
Describing the fictional hotel as a “place full of characters you’d actually want to be stuck in a lift with” the new release hones in on a range of slouchy summer staples inspired by skate park culture, Lake Como luxury and the music of The Specials.
The Spring/Summer 2022 installment from the label’s laid-back series incorporates some of UW’s signature pieces, including the Bakers Jacket—made using a pale indigo Handloom Denim—and the ever-popular Kyoto Work Jacket, which has been reworked in both olive corduroy and a light stone.
Elsewhere, sunny sky blue cotton’s are injected with future-proofed Japanese Paisley print, shirting is also made up of either piquet or a jersey mix, while down below the Hi Water Trouser is crafted from ecru, navy and indigo canvas.
Launching the collection, Universal Works co-founder David Keyte said: “Hotel De Luxe is full of beautiful blue skies, handwoven blue denims, blue linens, 1950s-inspired blue prints, embroidery, Amalfi coast blooms and paint strokes. It’s a hideaway for that late summer beach party – a good place to break out the perfect vacation polo and beach shorts. Everyone’s welcome. You just need an aperitivo in one hand and the keys to your Vespa in the other.”
