Truck travel bans announced in New Jersey & Pennsylvania for key wintertime storm

As the northeast braces for significant winter temperature, transportation officials are already issuing vacation restrictions.

Dependent on a forecast that predicts freezing rain and sleet that could make journey treacherous, the New Jersey Section of Transportation (NJDOT) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) have issued professional vehicle journey constraints on various big roadways.

New Jersey Journey Constraints

Commencing at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 15, industrial vehicles are limited from the next roadways:

  • I-78, from the Pennsylvania border to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)
  • I-80, from the Pennsylvania border to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)
  • I-280, from I-80 to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike)
  • I-287, from NJ Route 440 to the New York Point out border
  • NJ Route 440, from the Outerbridge Crossing to I-287

The journey restriction applies to the adhering to motor vehicles:

  • All tractor trailers (exceptions as stated in the Administrative Buy)
  • Vacant straight CDL-weighted vans
  • Passenger autos pulling trailers
  • Recreational automobiles
  • Motorcycles

The journey restriction does not implement to:

  • The New Jersey Turnpike
  • The Backyard State Parkway
  • The Atlantic Town Expressway
  • I-76
  • I-195
  • I-295
  • I-676

NJDOT is asking truck motorists who are currently in New Jersey when the vacation limits go into position to pull off in truck stops to wait around out the storm and not to park on the shoulders.

Pennsylvania Journey Limitations

Powerful at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 15, PennDOT has placed Tier 1 travel limitations in position on the next roadways:

• Interstate 70 from the West Virginia border to the PA Turnpike
• Interstate 76 (PA Turnpike mainline) in both of those instructions from the Breezewood interchange (Exit 161) to the Ohio border
• The complete size of Interstate 79
• Interstate 80 from Interstate 99 to the Ohio border
• The complete duration of Interstate 86
• The overall size of Interstate 90
• The whole size of Interstate 279
• The complete length of Interstate 376
• The entire length of Interstate 579

Vehicles involved in the Tier 1 limitations are as follows:

• Tractors without trailers
• Tractors towing unloaded or frivolously loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers
• Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers
• Enclosed cargo shipping vans that meet the definition of a CMV
• Passenger vehicles (autos, SUV’s, pickup vans, and many others.) towing trailers
• Recreational motor vehicles/motorhomes
• School buses, professional buses and motor coaches not carrying chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATD’s)
• Motorcycles
