If you’re among the many who missed the travel deals bonanza that happened on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Travel Tuesday, don’t despair—you haven’t struck out yet. There are plenty of deals to be had leading up to Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
A couple worthy offers that caught our eye this week are January hotel deals. Encouraging off-season travel, New York City Hotel Week and Rhode Island Hotel Month are providing major sales on accommodations in two of our favorite, albeit very different, destinations in the Northeast. We love the idea of a January trip to either of these places—both more peaceful and affordable once the crowds have fled, especially in NYC. This is the time to visit if you want to skip the lines.
Additionally, Icelandic airline Play continues to deliver the deals with budget airfare to Iceland and elsewhere in northwest Europe. It’s a good time to book hotel stays on Expedia, too. Their regular rotation of deals are rich with great properties this week, as are Booking.com’s, and a Florida hotel that’s a favorite with Traveler readers is offering a winter package.
Below, our list of the most valuable travel deals to book while you can.

JetBlue announced on Tuesday that its TrueBlue loyalty program has had its biggest revamp in a decade. Members will now be able to customize their own perks—including early boarding, priority security, alcoholic beverages, and 5,000-point bonuses. They also can now combine spend counts with all JetBlue credit cards, pooling points with others. Points don’t expire, and can be used anywhere, and members earn double points when they book with the JetBlue app or on jetblue.com. Jet off to Hamburg or Stockholm with an offer from Play

23-year-olds are now eligible for United’s young adult discount
23-year-olds, everyone thinks you’re still babies! And the downside is that you often have to pay under-25 fees for car and vacation rentals (if the company or host will take you at all)—but there’s good news too: You can now fly for cheaper with United. The airline’s young adult deal has existed since 2019, but previously only included 18-22-year-olds. The five percent-off discount, which applies for certain flights, can be booked through the United app.

Plan a trip to the big city for New York City Hotel Week
New York City has a reputation for being particularly special during the holidays—and it is—but that also means you have to share the finite sidewalk space with crushes of tourists. A January visit, when the crowds disappear, is more enjoyable in many ways. And an added bonus is that there are steep hotel deals happening to encourage travel. NYC Hotel Week is taking place for stays taken between January 3 and February 12, 2023 (and, yes, we know that’s longer than a week). Eligible hotels are 23 percent off, including Readers’ Choice Awards Winners the William Vale and the Chatwal. The promotion is part of a whole set of deals, with discounts for NYC Restaurant Week and NYC Broadway Week happening at the same time.
Book a peaceful, coastal winter getaway to Rhode Island in the discounted off-season
Similarly to NYC’s January hotel promotion above, the state of Rhode Island just announced its second annual hotel month. The sale period is currently in effect, and is valid for stays January 1-31, 2023. Stays are up to 50 percent off. Rates for the famed Hotel Providence, one among 22 eligible properties, start at $120 per night.
