Marietta Doran to head up the Fashion on Lawlor’s Day
Stylist to the stars, fashionista and broadcaster, Marietta Doran will head up the fashion judging panel for the Lawlor’s of Naas Grade 1 Novice Hurdle and Winter Ladies Day at Naas Racecourse on Sunday, 8th of January 2023. The Grade 1 race day is Naas Racecourse’s flagship race meeting and the opening card of the 2023 calendar at the Kildare track. For the first time in its history the race itself boasts a total prize fund of €100,000 which is testament to the interest in this contest and to the competitive field it attracts every year. The day also offers racegoers a fantastic mix of fashion, food and entertainment with lunch and hospitality available in its Panoramic Restaurant or in the many private suites.
As always, fashion is a big part of this fixture, and the Winter Ladies Day has a fashion prize fund of over €3,000 up for grabs for one lucky lady and two runners up. The Best Dressed Lady on the day will receive a €1,000 voucher from Residence Day Spa in Naas and a €1,000 voucher from Aria Boutique. The winner and a guest will also be treated to a two-night luxurious stay in a suite at Lawlor’s of Naas Town Centre Hotel with dinner in Vi’s Restaurant and ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’. Runners up will win afternoon tea at Lawlor’s of Naas, a €50 shopping voucher from Aria and a €100 voucher for a spa or beauty treatment from Residence Day Spa.
This year the theme of the competition once again asks racegoers to shop local and ‘Back A Boutique’ while also embracing colour. Speaking in advance of the fashion competition, Marietta Doran said, “Last year Naas Racecourse asked ladies to support their local boutique and once again, we would ask people to shop local and to buy Irish. We also want people to have fun with their outfits and to embrace colour and accessories. Fashion should be fun and allow people to express their own individuality and creativity”.
Lawlor’s of Naas, located in Poplar Square has just opened its luxurious new extension. The hotel now has 138 bedrooms, a glamourous ballroom, landscaped gardens and ‘Vi’s Restaurant’. The newly opened grand entrance sets the tone for old world style elegance and for the warm welcome that awaits. Stepping inside guests will be immediately drawn to the treasure trove of repurposed antiques and collectables which add a unique and elegant cocktail of glamour.
The Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle is the first major race of 2023 and is a great indicator of what horses are set to make waves on the racing scene over the remainder of the season. It is the eighth year in succession that Lawlor’s of Naas have sponsored this high-profile race which has been won by superstars such as Bob Olinger and Envoi Allen, both of whom when on to win the Grade 1 Ballymore Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
General Manager of Naas Racecourse, Eamonn McEvoy said, “A huge thank you to our feature sponsor, Lawlor’s for their continued support of this race and to our fashion sponsors Residence Day Spa and Aria Boutique. The fashion element of the day is hugely important for our racegoers who really enjoy the glamour and fun of the occasion. This race meeting offers people a great opportunity to meet socially and to see some very exciting contenders up close compete for Grade 1 glory.”
