Citing worries close to crewing its ships returning to support, Norwegian Cruise Line canceled its sailings out of La Romana, Dominican Republic, this summertime, two days after canceling the Norwegian Joy’s time from Montego Bay, Jamaica.
This Gem’s Caribbean year was to run from Aug. 15 to Oct. 10. In a letter to booked travellers alerting them to the canceled sailings, NCL reported that the choice was based on its launch of Alaska cruises in August.

We are so sorry your cruise has been impacted but we hope to welcome you aboard a different sailing.”
When the line canceled the Jamaica sailings it also explained it want to transfer crew from the Joy to Alaska thanks to the lead time needed for the Bliss sailings and to “increase the shorter Alaska cruise period.”
