Maui County Mayor says no to lifting interisland travel quarantine on April 1 – Honolulu, Hawaii news, sports & weather

“Our numbers do not indicate that we are ready to open up and drop the interisland quarantine. At this point, my answer is no,” Mayor Victorino said. “In three weeks or two weeks… we’ll see where our numbers are, maybe it’ll be a different answer.”

Mayor Victorino said his county’s coronavirus positivity rate of 2.5 percent is higher than he’d like it to be.

“Everybody else… Honolulu is under 1%. Big Island is under 0.5% and Kauai is at 0.10%. You know, less than 1%. So all of you guys are doing better than us,” he said. “I would want single digits, if it’s in single digits, 5, 6, 7 a day is manageable.”
