Hawaii SMART health card program launches this week – Honolulu, Hawaii news, sports & weather

One reporter asked: “How long does verification take?

Governor Ige responded: “It should only take a few seconds to get verified so it shouldn’t take a long time, we know not everyone will get verified but we think that some percentage will.

Doug Murdock, Director of Enterprise Technology said- “In Hawaii, state cards will keep the economy open – they will work to digitally present your status for those that require proof to enter restaurants or venues.”

Tom George From KITV asked; “Will this tool also follow Kauai and Big Island?”

Gov. Ige responded: “Talking with the Mayors about this whole program I’ve heard their concerns from the restaurants and other organizations and the impact it may have on their businesses and both Mayors are interested and want to see how it goes in Honolulu and Maui.”
