Lake Tahoe is welcoming visitors again this summertime to its oasis of splashy drinking water entertaining and mountain trails. A number of dining places and bars have sadly shuttered, but quite a few of our favorite spots have reopened — and there are a few newcomers on the scene. Here’s just a sampling.
Woodsy-stylish new lodgings
The rustic-stylish Coachman Hotel in South Lake Tahoe, which opened five many years in the past as a re-do of the previous Inexperienced Lantern, has renovated and expanded. Its new lodge rooms across the avenue have doubled the inn’s ability, and a mouth watering partnership is established to debut this summertime. Perenn, a Reno bakery, will open up Perenn at the Coachman with a pastry lineup of common and resourceful croissants, buns and kouign-amann for company and locals alike.
Come across aspects on the Coachman Resort, 4100 Pine Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe, at https://coachmantahoe.com. Get an plan of the pastries ahead with a peek at Perenn’s Reno menu at www.perennbakery.com. (Here’s hoping the vanilla brulee kouign-amann can make it on the Tahoe menu!)

Argentine bites
The empanada pattern arrived at the lake past summer months with Tahoe Empanadas, an Argentine-American pop-up that presented frozen, ready-to-bake pastries by pre-purchase. But as of July 1, they’re serving all nine versions — together with a breakfasty bacon, egg and cheese, and asiago and spinach — piping warm at the Incline Village Farmers Sector on Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m. and at the Bear Tummy Brewery in Kings Seashore on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 8 p.m. Check out out the menu and specifics at tahoeempanadas.com.
Speaking of brews
The Bear Belly nano-brewery opened just as the pandemic shut everything down very last 12 months. But a calendar year later, it’s heading strong — and the taproom has reopened with both equally indoor and out of doors seating. Open up Wednesday-Sunday at 8428 Trout Ave. in Kings Seaside www.bearbellybrew.com.
NOLA at Tahoe
Toulouse, a New Orleans-model cafe, opened in South Lake Tahoe this spring, serving up gumbo, crawfish etouffee, po’boys and Cajun chicken wings, as perfectly as those staples of lake delicacies — breakfast burritos, quinoa breakfast bowls and burgers, Extremely hard and Wagyu. Open up everyday at 901 Park Ave. www.toulouse.wtf
Italian pasta mania
South Lake Tahoe’s Gastromaniac opened just months just before the pandemic shutdown commenced, featuring up a menu to slake any Italian food hankerings, from gnocchi to pizza, tiramisu and Sicilian-fashion cannoli. Open up for dinner Wednesday-Sunday and weekend lunch at 3091 Harrison Ave. https://gastrotahoe.com.
A mini golf pub
Open since mid-June, South Lake Tahoe’s Flatstick Pub bills by itself as a developed-up playground — an indoor mini golf place with the motto “drink area, putt tipsy.” The menu incorporates street tacos, burritos, salads and other informal fare, and the bar offers 32 faucets pouring regional beer, wine and draft cocktails. It’s an adult-centric location, but children are welcome right up until 6 p.m. Open each day at 4125 Lake Tahoe Blvd. — just across from Heavenly Village. Check out the menu and ebook a “tee time” at www.tipsyputt.com/tahoe.
And new beachy deets
Lake Tahoe’s East Shore Path, a multi-use route that winds alongside the magnificent shoreline from Incline to Sand Harbor, opened in 2019. Look at it out at www.gotahoenorth.com/the-tahoe-east-shore-path, then test out www.tahoepublicbeaches.org for beachy inspiration. The website is all shiny and updated for the 2021 summer season year with details — directions, parking, facilities and extra — for the famed lake’s 40+ public beach locations.
